Dr. Dhananjay Datar came to Dubai in 1984 with just eight dollars in his pocket. Then there is the case of Huda Kattan, an Iraqi American woman who quit her job in finance in what was not a very enjoyable career, migrated to Dubai in 2006, studied makeup in LA and returned to Dubai to start her beauty blog in 2010. She utilised $6000 loan money from her sister to turn her beauty blog into the Huda Beauty company, and in 2013 she launched her first makeup product, false eyelashes, through Sephora Dubai. Sephora had anticipated selling 7,000 units per year; however, they ran out of stock in a week.

In the meantime, the businessman, Ivan Kroshnyi from Ukraine, was on a short visit to Dubai, and suddenly his plans to settle in Andorra totally changed! He finally gave up on going to Europe completely and relocated to Dubai in January 2021.
